How do I know if this is digital violence?

Signs that can help you understand what is happening, even when the person is close to you.

Digital violence sometimes starts small, or comes from someone close: a partner, an ex, a friend or a family member. Here are some signs:

  • You feel fear or anxiety every time a certain person messages you.
  • Someone demands your passwords or monitors your phone and movements.
  • Someone threatens to publish images, chats or information about you.
  • Someone asks you for money or images in exchange for not publishing something.
  • You find an account in your name or with your photos that you didn’t create.
  • You receive hurtful comments about your body, identity or orientation.

If any of these sounds like what is happening to you, you have the right to ask for support. You don’t have to wait until it gets worse.
